Reno’s Renown Medical Center has branched into the capital city with its new Urgent Care, located at 2814 N. Carson Street next to the Eagle Valley Medical Center.
A ribbon-cutting ceremony was held at the new location Tuesday morning. In addition, according to Mark Beauchamp of Shaheen Beauchamp Builders, who were the general contractors on the Urgent Care, a Primary Care Facility will be opening mid-May in South Carson, near Starbucks.
“We’ve done half a dozen projects for Renown now,” Beauchamp said. “They’re wonderful to work with.”
“We have to look at Carson City as one of the important areas we want to be providing healthcare,” said Dr. Derek Beenfeldt Division Chief Primary Care of Renown. “We look forward to working with you to provide excellent patient care for the residents of Carson City.”
“On behalf of Carson City we’d like to say thank you to Renown for bringing an additional element of health care to Carson City,” said Mayor Bob Crowell. “As Derek mentioned, we’re a growing community down here in Carson City, and we’re a growing region. Carson City is a proud member of the region of Northern Nevada, and we’re proud you’ve come down here to provide another level of service to us here in Carson City.”
Mayor Crowell went on to say that healthcare is a big part of what makes a community.
“Healthcare is one of the building blocks of a sustainable community, as well as one of the things people look at when they think about moving here, or moving their businesses here,” said Mayor Crowell. “It’s not lost on us that the more levels of care we have, the better off we are in this community.”
